Healthy Kids Clinic Annual Summer Training a Success

Healthy Kids Clinic hosted their Annual Summer Training event July 12-13, 2022, at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset. Over 300 Healthy Kids Clinic providers and staff from CFMC clinics and school districts in Adair County, Anderson County, Bardstown Independent, Barren County, Casey County, Clinton County, Cumberland County, Green County, Elizabethtown Independent, Frankfort Independent, Hardin County, LaRue County, Lincoln County, Marion County, McCreary County, Russell County, Washington County, and Wayne County gathered to attend the training.
Participants attended sessions on the integration of primary care, dental, and behavioral health services in school-based health centers, how to integrate different disciplines of care to narrow any current health care gaps and how to develop new patient care techniques to improve patient outcomes. Informational sessions led by physicians who practice specialties within the Louisville and surrounding service areas presented on topics including type 1 diabetes, medical emergencies, seizures, pediatric cardiology, COVID-19, child abuse and reporting, and suicide prevention.
The Healthy Kids Clinic program provides on-site School-Based Health Centers at each of the 116 public schools within the Adair, Anderson, Barren, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Franklin, Green, Hardin, LaRue, Lincoln, Marion, McCreary, Nelson, Russell, Washington, and Wayne County school systems.
